How do I rent a kayak?

You can call, text or email us. We will send you a waiver form for you to fill out, sign and send back to us. We require 50% down plus a $50 deposit at the time of booking and will charge your card the remainder amount the morning of your rental.

Do I transport the kayaks/canoes/pedal boats/paddle boards?

We deliver all gear to you at a designated location and time. We also pick them up at the same location and designated time of choice.

When should I reserve my rentals?

As soon as you know the dates. We try to accommodate everyone’s dates up to the last minute if boats are available, but during peak season, we books months in advance. Plan early.

How long can I rent a kayak/canoe/paddle board/pedal boat for?

We have many options, you can rent them from one hour to eight hours in one day. We also have multi day options if you are camping out. Just give us a call, text or email to find out availability. Two hours is a good time from if you are a beginner.

I don’t know how to swim; can I still kayak?

Absolutely! We have kayaking lessons available to help you feel comfortable on the water and you will have a life jacket on the entire time you are on the water. We also offer guided tours and the tour guide can help you if you feel uncomfortable or scared.

Do I have to wear a life jacket?

The answer is YES!! You must wear a life jacket in our kayaks.

How many people fit in a canoe?

Our canoes fit 3 people.

What if I damage your gear or return equipment late?

When you rent from Red’s Kayaks and Outdoor Rentals, you accept the kayak in its present condition (paddle, life jacket, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, etc) and accept full responsibility for the care of equipment you are renting. If you lose or damage anything, you agree for the repair or replacement cost at full retail value whether the damage or loss was your fault. Your credit card will be charged for the amount of damage, and you authorize Red’s Kayaks to charge all costs your credit card. If you are more than 10 minutes late for pickup of the equipment, you are subject to a $50 per boat late fee (we have had issues with people not returning to the designated spot-on time).

All repair work (such as patching) will be billed $50 per hour plus materials. Bent paddles, folded (wrapped) canoes, and badly damaged watercraft will be charged for replacement. It is solely the discretion of Red’s Kayaks & Outdoor Rentals to determine if damaged equipment will be repaired or replaced at the renter’s expense. Lost or abandoned equipment will be billed $50 per hour for recovery time. Prices are subject to change.

What if I’m ready to leave before it’s time for Red’s Kayaks and Outdoor Rentals to pick up the equipment?

Call us and see if we are available to pick up early. Equipment left unattended at the designated location for Red’s Kayaks & Outdoor Rentals will be charged a $50.00 fee regardless of the reason. Should the equipment be lost or stolen while left unattended, the renter will be responsible for all replacement costs at full retail prices. .

When is the best time to kayak?

We say anytime during daylight hours, but that depends on your preference. You do have to step into the water to get into your kayak/canoe/paddle board/pedal boat, which can be chilly in the spring/fall. None of our equipment is to be used in the dark.

What is your refund/cancellation/rescheduling policy?

Rental reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Prepayment of 50% is required to hold any equipment at the time booking. We do not refund cancellations due to reserving a boat just for you. But you can reschedule if we are given more than 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel within 24 hours of the rental time, you will be charged the FULL amount. Please NOTE: The only time we will refund money if for inclement weather.

What comes with the Kayak/Canoe/Pedal Boats/Paddle Boards rentals?

You will get a kayak, paddle and a life jacket.

Do I need a permit to kayak on Lake of the Arbuckles or Veterans Lake?

No, you do not.

Is there cell phone service on the lakes?

Yes, although it may be spotty in certain places.

What happens if I leave trash in the boats when Red’s Kayaks and Outdoor Rentals picks them up?

A cleaning fee of $5.00 per boat will be collected if they are not returned in the same condition they left. You will be charged for equipment that is dirty, damaged, or missing, up to and including the cost to replace such equipment at the current equipment costs, regardless of the age of the equipment.

What should I bring with me?

Our rentals come with a paddle and a life jacket, but there is other gear you might want or need while out on the water. Dress appropriate for the weather and water conditions and stay hydrated.

Something to drink (water is preferrable); Sunscreen; Dry bag; Snacks; Hat; Water shoes; A towel (if you are wanting to go swimming); A small cooler; Canoeing Clothes (You may get wet or dirty); Waterproof Camera; Water Resistant Phone Pouch (we sell these)

What should I not bring?

Glass Bottles of any kind; Expensive or “good” clothes; Expensive Cameras or video equipment; Drugs; Alcohol; Dogs
